Abstract
576,328. Automatic control of rectifiers. 'TOMLINSON, A. V. (Union Switch & Signal Co.). Sept. 30, 1943, No. 16064. [Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv).] A D.C. load is supplied from a rectifier 6, 7, 9, 10 through one winding a of a reactor 12, and a smoothing and stand-by battery 11 is connected across the rectifier through another winding b wound in the same direction as winding a. By this means changing current of the battery rises with increase of load current, whilst its discharge current under heavy load conditions is limited, which effect may be enhanced by so designing the reactor that its reactance increases with increase of load current.
