Abstract

575,456. Hydraulic accumulators. ARMSTRONG, J. J. V. (Vickers, Inc.). Feb. 8, 1944, No. 2301. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] In an accumulator comprising a pair of shells 40, 42 clamped together and divided into pressure compartments 46, 48 by a diaphragm 44, the latter is formed with a triangular rim 77 clamped between annular recesses 70, 72 in the shells to form a fluid-tight seal. An annular recess 74 is formed in the rim 77 to prevent pinching when the shells are clamped together. The diaphragm is preferably of " neoprene " and is provided With annular corrugations 80, 82 of varying depth, a thickened central portion having a fabric reinforcement 84 and pairs of radial ribs 86 in its lower face.
