Abstract

575,166. Fluxes. O. & F. CO. PROPRIETARY, Ltd. Dec. 2, 1943, No. 20145. Convention date, Nov. 14, 1942. [Class 82 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] An arc welding electrode for depositing alloys of superhardness such as high speed steel of hardness of 60-66 Rockwell C; consists of a mild steel core with a coating containing the alloying ingredients and which may also contain asbestos, cellulose, dolomite, silicate of sodium and whiting (calcium carbonate). A coating mixture may consist of 38 per cent of tungsten, 13.5 per cent of ferro-molybdenum, 13 per cent of ferro-chromium, 6.5 per -cent of ferro-vanadium, 8 per cent of graphite, 5 per cent of calcium carbonate, 2 per cent of cellulose and 20 per cent of sodium silicate solution. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (4) states that silicate of potassium may also be used. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
