Abstract
An arc welding electrode has a core of mild steel or iron and a coating containing chromium or an alloy thereof. The coating may consist of 5-16 per cent of fluorspar, 27-40 per cent of rutile, 18-40 per cent of limestone, 0-10 per cent of ferro-manganese, 5-13 per cent of ferro-silicon, and 10-30 per cent of ferro-chromium mixed with 5-15 per cent of a binder such as sodium and/or potassium water glass.
