Abstract

574,601. Explosive gas detectors. POOLE, R. Feb. 7, 1944, No. 2201. [Class 1 (i)] In apparatus for detecting explosive gases of the kind comprising an electrically heated filament exposed to the gas and connected in a Wheatstone bridge, the filament H<1> is mounted in a cylindrical chamber D on a removable support F which has on the inlet side a flange F<6> filling the chamber but for a narrow annular passage. The entering gas is thus prevented from impinging directly on the filament. A similar flange F' may be provided on the outlet side, and a cylindrical gauze screen G may be fitted between the flanges. The filament support is preferably in the shape of a cylindrical plug fitting axially in the chamber and has a flange F' forming a closure to the chamber.
