574,491. Insulator for dynamoelectric machines. SIGMUND, F., and HLAVIN, W. S. Oct. 20, 1943, No. 17299. [Class 35] A slotted core has the laminae insulated with rubber or rubberlike material and a separately applied covering of the same material extends over the individual teeth and slots and, if desired, over the core ends and in the case of an internally slotted core, the outer periphery. The insulation is applied by dipping, brushing or spraying. In the form shown, alternate laminµ are coated with the rubber-like insulating material and the stack of laminµ with its end rings may be dipped in similar insulation to obtain a complete covering, or the outer covering may be brushed or sprayed on. A double covering may be provided, in which case the inner covering may contain powdered mica or asbestos. The insulation on the tooth faces between the slots may be of reduced thickness, similarly that on the outer core periphery. Suitable insulating materials include polymers and copolymers of the vinyl compounds. Some laminµ may have larger slots to accommodate ribs 22 formed integrally with the slot linings.
