Abstract
<PICT:0573042/IV/1> Loose tufts or masses of fibre or individual pieces of woven material are passed below the surface of a washing, dyeing, scouring or like treating liquor between two conveyers, of reticulate material, and sprayed with jets of liquor from opposing nozzles while immersed. In the form of apparatus shown, a vat 1 contains conveyers 3, 4 of reticulate material. Liquor from the vat is pumped through spaced nozzles 8, 9 by a pump (not shown) which draws liquor from the vat through a pipe 11, settling tank 12, filter 13 and pipe 14. Material to be treated is fed to the vat between the conveyers 3, 4 by a conveyer 2 and an oscillating fork 15 assists its removal from the vat to squeeze rollers 17, 18. The nozzles 8, 9 are spaced so as not to interfere with one another. More than one of the machines arranged in series may be employed for the treatment.
