Abstract
572,804. Valves ; cylinder admission ports. SOC. ANON. A. SAURER. Jan, 8, 1943, No. 417. Convention date, Jan. 9, 1942. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] In an engine in which supercharging ports 5 in the cylinder wall 1 are opened by an oscillating slide valve 8 and closed by the working piston 2, a further set of ports 6 is provided in the part of the cylinder wall adjacent to the ports 5 and not over-run by the piston 2 during the supercharging period, these ports being of not more than half the width of the ports 5 and being controlled completely by the slide valve 8. The actuating mechanism for the slide valve 8 is secured to a projection 9 on the valve between the upper and lower sets of ports therein.
