[Class 17 (ii)] A shank stiffener 10, more especially for children's shoes, is offset from the medial line towards the inside of the foot in line with the big toe, and has a lateral projection 11 at the rear under the heel. It may be attached in the shoe by integral prongs 15 or by fastenings driven through the ends of a strip of leather or other material fastened to the stiffener so as to project beyond the ends, the breast face 13 of the heel being at or near the forward end of the projection.
