Abstract
360,647. Boots &c. DAVID, I. W., 303, 4th Avenue, New York, U.S.A. Oct. 28, 1930, No. 32342. Convention date, July 19. [Class 17 (ii).] The portion of a shoe sole 1 forward of the point 8, is provided with an integral upstanding moulded flange 4 for the attachment of the upper to form a flexible and expansible forepart, and an inturned flange 20 at the base of the shoe quarter 10 is attached to the rearward portion of the sole which is approximately rectangular in cross section. This latter may be done by stitching the flange between the slit edges of the sole, or the sole may terminate flush against the breast face of the heel and the counter secured to a sock lining. Alternatively, the rear portion of the sole may be split to form two tongues, one of which is secured to the quarter and the other covers the heel breast. A shank stiffener may be provided between the sole and a sock.
