Abstract

572,399. Wind motors. BURGESS, A. F. (Wincharger Corporation). March 30, 1944, No. 5881. [Class 110 (iii)] Two wind motors 30, supported on a girder 17 which is pivotally supported at 21 on a tower 10, are turned about axes 27 when excessive wind speed overcomes the tensions of springs 41 acting through cables 35. The cables pass around pulleys 34, 39, and are crossed at 36. The motors may alternatively be turned by a hand windlass through a further cable 44. A tail vane 50 keeps the blades 33 normally facing the wind to drive electric generators. Members 37 lock the cables to pulleys 34.
