[Class 38 (i)] [Also, in Groups XIV and XXV] A band clip for securing pipes to a support comprises a band 10 with perforated ends 13, 14, and a nut member 21 which clips on to end 14, the member comprising a base with stampedout inclined tongues 28 the ends of which engage the thread of the tightening and supporting screw, (hot shown), and inturned ends 22 which embrace end 14 and have upturned or flanged extremities 23 which snap into the aperture in end 14 to hold the nut member in place. The ends of tongues 28 are notched and twisted to conform with the helix of the screw thread. In use, the screw is passed through an aperture in the support and then through the ends 13, 14 into engagement with the tongues 28. The pipe-embracing portion of the band may be covered with cushioning or insulating material such as rubber, in which case the nut member may have an arcuate tongue in contact with the pipe for earthing purposes. Fig. 9 shows a modification for this purpose comprising a V-form portion with limbs 40, 43 which embrace the perforated end of the clip, the inner limb 43 having the arcuate tongue 48 which is located within the band and pressed thereby into contact with the pipe, and the outer limb 40 having the inclined screw engaging tongues 41. Modifications are described in which the earthing tongue is separate from the nut member but is held in place thereby. In one of these, the screw-receiving aperture in the limb corresponding with limb 43 of Fig. 9 has peripheral projection equivalent to projections 23 of Fig. 4 snapping into the bandclip apertures and an aperture in the tongue member, whilst in the other modification the nut-member aperture is plain and the bandclip aperture has the peripheral projections engaging the apertures in the tongue and nut members.
