Abstract

834,091. Earth continuity couplings. ALLDAY & SON (1922) Ltd., H. Sept. 9, 1958 [Oct. 1, 1957], No. 30711/57. Class 38 (1). An earthing clip for securing a wire to a pipe h comprises a stirrup a of channel cross-section with slots b to allow the insertion of the ends of metal band c, and a pad g placed between the stirrup sides and clamping screw d, the tightening of which screw presses band c against pad g and moves stirrup a outward from the pad thus tightening the band. Screw d has a pointed end which indents the band into pad g to locate it. Pad g is chamfered at g<SP>1</SP> to allow band c to be wrapped tightly round pipe h, the inclined edges expanding the stirrup sides during tightening of screw d, thus increasing tension in the band. A terminal screw may be attached to either pad or screw for connecting an earthing wire.
