Abstract

1451364 Cable clamps J T THOMPSON and G W GILLEMOT 19 Sept 1973 44044/73 Heading H2E A generally U-shaped clamp 10 has its legs formed to define a channel 25 in which is clamped a cable 16 entering through an opening 28 in the bight. There may be teeth 27 to improve the grip. An additional channel portion 26 allows the cores 21 to be brought out. Additionally, as shown, or instead, the ends of the legs are offset so that the sides of the channel 25 are open between the legs. The clamping bolt 13 may be fixed to an eye 32 which receives a band 14 which can be tightened on to a conduit 11. The clamp may provide an electrical connection from the cable shield 19 to the conduit 11, in which case the eye 32 has teeth (35, Fig. 2, not shown) to bite into the conduit 11. In another embodiment (Figs. 6-10, not shown) the clamp (10<SP>1</SP>) anchors the cable to a fuse-box (42) and connects the shield (19<SP>1</SP>) to a wire (45), and an insulating sleeve (60) grips the cable to restrain flexing and to prevent damage to the shield.
