Abstract

572,240. Motor - vehicle frames. BEADLE, Ltd., J. C., and HICKS, H. G. Aug. 26, 1943, No. 13922. [Class 79 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXII] A chassis and floor strueture for road vehicles comprises four longitudinal bearer members 1, one at each side of the chassis and two spaced members between ; as shown the members 1 may be of channel section and the. outer ones are formed with wheel arches, which are spanned by the inner members. Transverse members 2 interconnect the longitudinal members 1 and comprise separate sheet metal units secured in line between the longitudinals ; the ends of the units are formed with a flange 3 welded to the adjacent longitudinal and their lower edges with flanges 4 ; the top edges 5 project above the top flanges of the longitudinals and are welded between angle bars 6 to form a top tension bar and provide seatings for a wooden floor 7. A front cross member 2a of greater depth than the members 2 serves as a front bulkhead support plate. The floor structure is superimposed on the previously arranged transmission units with connections and controls and the units are then connected to the floor structure.
