572,097. Grinding-wheels. CHURCHILL MACHINE TOOL CO., Ltd., and ASBRIDGE, H. H. March 29, 1944, No. 5817. [Class 60] Apparatus for forming grinding wheels by means of a crushing roller has the grinding-wheel spindle, during crushing, coupled to the roller housing so that the crushing pressure is not applied to the grinding- wheel spindle bearings. The grinding-wheel a is mounted on a spindle b, on the end of which is a collar or yoke d pivotally connected to a link e, which passes through a lever pivoted at g, and adapted to apply pressure through a stem h to the housing i in which the crushing roller c is journalled. The link e carries a nut j, the adjustment of which feeds the roller c on to the grinding-wheel, the pressure being counterbalanced, so that it is not applied to the bearings of the spindle b.
