572,031. Making moulds and dies. LUCAS, Ltd., J., and HUTTON, J. M. March 13, 1944, No. 4650. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Building up articles by spraying.-A mould, e.g. for use in making articles from synthetic resins, die, work-holder or other article made by spraying ferrous alloy or other metal onto a pattern and then stripping, is improved by coating the patterned face with copper or other metal, having a melting point between that of the body metal and the temperature of use, and then heating said mould &c. to fuse said layer, thus causing substantially all of it to be absorbed by the body metal. The coating may be applied by electro-deposition or spraying and a thickness of 0.015" is usually sufficient. The heating is done in reducing' or protective gas.
