Abstract

571,439. Turbine blades. ARMSTRONG SIDDELEY MOTORS, Ltd., and HEPPNER, F. A. M. Sept. 24, 1942, No. 13426. [Class 110 (iii)] The serrations 12 in the side walls of the blade groove in the turbine rotor, are pro vided by a one o more start screw thread or spiral. The blade roots are corresponding ly shaped. One wal of the blade groove may be smooth. The invention consists in applying this construction to two-tier blade rings. In one form, a rotor comprises both inner air-compressor blades 13 and outer turbine blades 17 secured by spiral serrations 12. In another form, the outer blades 17 have T-shaped roots with a sliding fit in the grooves in the heads 18. The blades 13 have spiral serrations 12 and as they are screwed into place the roots of the blades close up to one another. U.S.A. Specifications 2,240,742 and 2,240,743 are referred to.
