Abstract

571,204. Hand drills. GLOBE PRODUCTS MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 26, 1944, No. 1489. Convention date, Sept. 21, 1942. [Class 83 (iii)] A hand drill comprises a disc-like body 6 with peripheral flange 6a forming a bearing recess for a hub 11 rotatably mounted therein on a shaft 14 and having a boss 30 carrying a chuck spindle 33 and having also longitudinal slots 12 adapted to engage the end 41 of a spring-pressed latch pin 40 to lock the hub in one of a number of angular positions. The latch pin 40 is mounted in, a handle stud 8 integral with the body 6 and is operated by a cross-pin 44 passing through a slot in the stud. A handle 50 is rotatably mounted on the stud by means of a bolt 51. The chuck spindle carries a pinion gear 36 which meshes with a drive gear 19 mounted on the shaft 14. A plane outer surface 60 is formed on the body 6 and the axis of the chuck 38 is offset relatively to the axis of the handle so that the body-may rest flatly against a plane wall surface.
