Abstract

570,933. Knitting-machines. COTTON, Ltd., W., and COOPER, W. A. Oct. 7, 1943, No. 16411. [Class 74 (ii)] In a straight-bar machine in which the welt straps are attached to a beam roller rotatable to wind up and unwind the straps and wherein a second roller coupled to the first roller is connected by cords to the hook ends of the welt straps to provide means for positively drawing off the straps from the beam roller, the two rollers are coupled together by a spring coupling. Sprockets 18, 20 are provided upon the shafts 15, 21 carrying the rollers and are connected by an endless chain 19. A pin or anchorage 28 at one end of an arcuate slot 25 in the sprocket 20 is connected by a spring 26 to a pin 24 projecting from the second roller into the slot 25. The coupling therefore provides a solid drive after the spring has yielded.
