Abstract

570,647. Mixing gaseous fuels. HOBBS, J. W. Sept. 4, 1941, No. 11299. [Classes 50 and 55 (ii)] [Also in Group II] A gaseous fuel consisting of a mixture of a combustible gas such as acetylene or coal gas, and the vapour of a low-boiling liquid such as ether, is obtained' by compressing the gas delivered to a compartment 2 of a container 1 in a compressor 4 which supplies it to a pressure compartment 3, a pipe 8 leading the compressed gas to above the surface of the liquid in a vessel 7. The'gas and vapour pass by a pipe 11 to a venturi mixing device 13 which is also supplied with the compressed gas by a pipe 5, the mixture then being delivered for use, for example for welding, soldering or brazing. The venturi mixing device comprises two nozzles 14, 15, the latter being axially adjustable, and retained in position by a locking screw 16.
