Abstract
570,105. Drying air. OKONITE-CALLENDER CABLE CO., Inc. May 27, 1943, No. 8515. Convention date, July 3, 1942. [Class 34 (i)] Air for drying the pipe lines of electric cable systems is supplied by pump 4 to a reservoir 24 and passes to an extractor 8 which removes precipitated moisture. The partly dried air passes to a chamber 2 containing bronze wool 14 cooled, by refrigerating medium passing through a coil 10 from a refrigerator 12, to a temperature at least as low as the dew point of the air, so that moisture is deposited. The air then passes through an aridifier 18 from which extracted moisture passes to a trap 22, and the dried air is delivered through pipe 28. The aridifier 18 comprises sets of superposed rotating blades which are driven in opposite directions by the passage of air, moisture being deposited on the blades.
