569,709. Firelighters, LUZZATTO, G. J. Sept. 10, 1943, No. 14900. [Class 50] A firelighter composition capable of being briquetted in the cold comprises carbonaceous material such as coke or coal breeze and spent fuller's earth or spent clay (a waste product obtained, e.g. in oil refining) with an oxygen carrier. An example comprises 10 per cent each of pitch, coke breeze or coal, and rosin, 25 per cent each of crude naphthalene and oxygen carrier, and 20 per cent fuller's earth. Sodium or potassium nitrate, manganese dioxide or ferric oxide may be used as oxidizing agent. Specification 559,397 is referred to.
