Abstract

569,329. Elastic fluid turbines. NICHOLSON, T. A. E. Nov. 24, 1943, No. 19625. [Class 110 (iii)] The invention deals with an improved combustion chamber f on the turbine described in Specification 157,630, [Class 110 (iii)]. The turbine has a number of chambers f provided with directing nozzles g in a fixed casing a which supply working fluid to the teeth or vanes d on the periphery of a rotor b which 'reciprocates axially to compress gas or air before it is led to the combustion chambers. The casing may reciprocate instead of the rotor. The chambers f may be inside the ring of teeth on the rotor. Sparking plugs j, fired simultaneously, may be fitted, when fuel is gas used or fuel injected into compressed air. The chamber heads e may have detachable tops which carry inlet and exhaust valves. The casing box may carry teeth.
