Abstract

The engine which may be used to propel a car, consists of a flywheel and two geared wheels, one larger than the other. The flywheel being the power unit, transfers the power through the geared wheels to a gearbox. The flywheel is rotated by petrol exploding against angled blades. The firing sequence is operated by a distributor through a cam on the large geared wheel.

Description

ALTERNATE CAR RNGlNE. fDESCRIPTION) This invention relates to an alternate car engine.
The car engine has now been around for over a hundred years with very little change to the basic design. The original idea of the four cylinder engine has obviously changed with technology and new innovations, but the basic framework is still there. The differences from one engine to the next can be considerable, but nearly all work from a turning crankshaft. Modern engines are expensive and in some cases difficult to maintain. So a simpler inexpensive answer was sought.
As the title implies this engine is an alternate means of vehicle propulsion.
The engine consists of a large 9wheel with small angled blades set within its outer edge. The leading edge of each blade overlaps the trailing edge of the preceding blade. Around the outer edge of the engine case are three injectors and spark plugs, which fire a blast into the blades. As stated previously, the overlapping blades provide an adequate catchment area for the ignited fuel. The blades are set at an angle of between thirty and forty five degrees to provide maximum thrust to the flywheel. On the other side of the engine case are three exhaust ports, which are used to extract the blast after it has hit the blades, reducing any backblast effect, which would reduce the efficiency of the engine.
The engine idles on the firing of a single spark plug, as the accelerator is depressed a second spark plug ignites, further pressure causes the third to ignite.
It may be possible to incorporate several more injectors and spark plugs.
As the flywheel rotates so does the shaft at its centre, this shaft leads into a further housing which contains two geared wheels. In turn these transfer the rotating motion to a lower shaft leading into a gearbox. Situated on top of the casing, opposite the larger geared wheel sits the distributor. Cormected to the geared wheel is a cam which incorporates four equally spaced protrusions. As each of these pass the distributor they provoke the distributor, causing a spark, this leads back to the original injectors and spark plugs.

  1. ALTERNATE CAR ENGINE. (CLAD!dS?
    1. Altemate car engine, comprising of a turning flywheel with attached overlapping blades, the blades are set at an angle of between thirty and forty five degrees. Three injectors and spark plugs are used for igniting, these induce the rotating action of the flywheel. The exhaust fumes are drawn off by means of three exhaust ports. The wheel dries a shaft which in turn drives a large geared wheel, the geared wheel accommodates a cam comprising of four evenly spaced protrusions. As the cam rotates each protrusion activates the distributor which causes a spark in each of the spark plugs. This larger geared wheel rotates a smarter connected geared wheel. The smaller geared wheel rotates a shaft leading into the gearbox
