Abstract

1338281 Power plant; rotary cylinder engines, valves, driving gear W L TODD 29 Feb 1972 [1 April 1971] 8370/71 Heading F1B, F1G, F1Q In a method of operating an I.C. engine a rotor 16, Fig. 1, which includes a cylinder 16, is mounted between bearings 12, 13, Fig. 2 and activated by internal combustion within the cylinder to rotate within a stator 4 having an induction passage 5 and a exhaust duct 6 in which vanes are fixed to co-operate with the exhaust gases to provide a secondary power impulse, the operating cycle being induction, compression, primary power impulse, secondary power impulse and exhaust. The piston 21 is reciprocated via a rod 23, shaft 17 and rollers 18, Fig. 2, which run in cam tracks 3. A slide valve 28 is reciprocated by cam 2 and the sparking plug 36 fires when terminal 37 contacts blade 35. (For Figures see next page)
