Abstract

569,164. Mould materials. SHAW, N., NELSON, G., and EASTEN, R. July 9, 1943, No. 11172. [Class 83 (i)] A bomb or other hollow article is made by pouring molten metal into a cored mould, the surface of both mould and core being coated with refractory material of great thickness applied as settable slurry and including a silicic ester. This coating may be about ¢" thick and be applied by gravity or pressure casting the slurry into the space between a metal mould and a core, having the same form as the outside of the article required and also into the space between a core of straw &c. and a core box.
