Abstract

568,806. Electric immersion heaters. RIDER, T. R., and WASSELL. R. W. July 23, 1943, No. 12011. [Class 39 (iii)] In an electric immersion heater, a coiled resistance heater is contained in a tube A of toughened glass, in contact with its inner walls. The tube is coiled in a flat spiral with ends B projecting upwards to a handle C containing a switch D. The heating element does not reach red heat. In an alternative form, the heating element comprises a flat wire wound on a core of asbestos or mica, in the form of a double helix, inserted into a cylindrical container of toughened glass.
