Abstract
810,667. Electric immersion heater. BLECKMANN, A., DAMHOFER, E., and BLECKMANN, H. April 5, 1956 [April 9, 1955], No. 10474/56. Class 39(3) A tubular sheathed electric heater comprising a heating resistance wire embedded in compacted insulating material in a metal tube for heating water or other liquids containing scale-forming substances is arranged for a rate of heat transfer of 9-12 or more watts per square cm. The tube is bent to a spiral 1 and has straight parts 2 attached to an insulating block 4 and containing current conducting wires. A temperature feeler 6 of a cut-out is fixed by .a clip 5 to the tube at the highest immersed heating point of the tube to cut off the current if the liquid level falls. The cut-out may be mounted in the block 4, and after its operation, current may be again switched on by a readily accessible switch. When the heater is bent to a spiral, the tube is additionally upset at the bends during or after the bending by hammering, pressing or the like especially on the outer surfaces to ensure even compression of the insution.
