568,334. Locking nuts. THOMPSON, A. H. June 29, 1943, No. 10530. [Class 89 (i.)] Means for locking nuts or screws comprise members stamped from flat sheet metal to polygonal form with an oversize hole for the screw, tongues projecting into this space to engage the threads of the screw. As illustrated for a square plate 10, the tongues 14 extend at an angle of 70 degrees to one side and substantially tangentially to the screw. The tongues are shaped with points 15 and are slightlyresilient in the plane of the sheet so that the plate may easily be screwed up, the tongues deflecting laterally to engage on the threads. Movement in the reverse direction causes the tongues to dig into the threads and effects a lock. Removal, if required, is effected by a tool that engages the tongues themselves,
