[Class 78 (i)] In conveyers of the type comprising an endless moving belt carried by a plurality of lower frame units detachably connected together in line and a plurality of upper frame units which are detachably carried by the lower units by joint members received by joint devices of the lower units, the connection is by pins 66, 68 carried by the upper units, one at each corner, and sockets 54 carried by one end of each lower unit and coupling pins 56 extending horizontally from the mating end of the adjacent lower unit. The lower units 12 are in the form of troughs which may be inverted supporting rollers 16 over which rides the lower traverse of the belt. One end of each trough carries on its upper surface two triangular webs, each terminating at the trough side in an upright 32 topped by a slotted shelf 36. The other end of each trough has a butt strap 26 from which project the pins 56, which are recessed along the greater part of their inner faces. In assembling, the pins 56 are first passed into the sockets 54, which are welded to the uprights 32, and the pins 66, 68 are then inserted through the slot in the shelf 36 and through vertical slots 60, 62 in the socket 54 to engage the recess in the pins 56. The spill plates 14 forming one side of the upper units are U-shaped and are slotted to take over the shelves 36 at their bottom corners. The tops of the uprights 32 support journals for the outer ends of the upper roller axles, the inner ends of which ride in inclined bearing plates so that the upper traverse of the belt forms a shallow vee.
