Abstract
553,076. Endless-belt conveyers. MAVOR & COULSON, Ltd., and THOMSON, J. Nov. 29, 1941, No. 15405. [Class 78 (i)] The idle rollers B<SP>2</SP> for supporting the upper traverse D<SP>2</SP> of an endless belt conveyer are mounted on arms 2 hinged at 3 to the frame A so as to be swingable upward, or upward and outward, or laterally, to allow of the lower traverse D<SP>1</SP> being laid on the bottom idle rollers B<SP>1</SP> when assembling the conveyer. The pivots 3 may be in line with the axes of the lower rollers B<SP>1</SP> to minimize the head-room required in raising the rollers B<SP>2</SP>. The bottom rollers B<SP>1</SP> extend practically to the medial line of the belt, but the upper rollers B<SP>2</SP> are shorter to allow of a space along the middle of the lower traverse on which spillage may be carried. Either or both sets of rollers may incline downward to impart a trough form to the traverses. The upper rollers B<SP>2</SP> are rounded at their ends 4 to facilitate passage of the spillage, and these rollers are staggered in longitudinal location both with respect to themselves and to the rollers B<SP>1</SP>. Spillage plates C<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>2</SP> of inverted U-form fit over the assembled frame members A, the plates C<SP>1</SP> being lower than those opposite to permit of lateral play for the upperstraverse.
