Abstract
761,264. Endless articulated-plate conveyers. TURNER, Ltd., G. R., and BLOOMER, A. G. Feb. 15, 1955 [Feb. 24, 1954; July 13, 1954; Jan. 10, 1955], Nos. 5457/54, 20414/54 and 745/55. Class 78 (1). In a conveyer comprising an endless series of articulated plates of trough section, each trough section is associated with a link element, each link element being connected to one of its neighbours by a vertical pivot and to its other neighbour by a horizontal transverse pivot, guide rollers being associated with the vertical pivots and supporting rollers with the horizontal pivots, and the plates are formed with appropriately curved side and base portions respectively adjacent the vertical and horizontal pivots. As shown, oppositely directed U- form links D, E are welded to the undersides of the plates G, H and their adjacent ends D<1>, E<1> and D<2>, E<2> are respectively pivoted on horizontal shafts J and vertical shafts F, the latter through the medium of socket members D<3>, E<3>. Brackets D4, E4 welded to the underside of plates G, H respectively are also pivotally mounted on the shafts J. The outer ends of shafts J and the lower ends of shafts F carry supporting rollers K and guide rollers F<2> respectively engaging tracks composed of angle sections A, A<1> and B, B<1> respectively mounted on frames G. The plates G, H have upturned side portions G<2>, H<2> of cylindrical form about the axes of shafts F and flat adjacent the shafts J, the upper edges of the side portions having outwardly extending flanges G3, H<3>. The bases G<1>, H<1> of the plates G, H have cylindrical portions L, L<1> about the axes of shafts J, the side por. tions G<2>, H<2> being correspondingly of circular form and the flanges G<3>, H<3> have corresponding cylindrical portions G<4>, H<4> at these points. In a modification, Fig. 7, the rounded ends of the links D<7>, E<7> are pivotally connected about a vertical axis by socket members O, R which have pivotal connections about a longitudinal horizontal axis with their respective links D<7>, E<7> so as to permit twisting of the links within limits determined by the clearances between the overlapping portions of the plates, which, according to the third Provisional Specification, may be interconnected by flexible members to provide a smooth continuous conveying floor. Partitions may also be arranged transversely at intervals within the trough formed by the plates G, H.
