Abstract

720,533. Endless conveyers. KAY, O. Nov. 12, 1951 [Nov. 11, 1950], No. 27586/50. Class 78 (1). A bucket for an endless conveyer comprises two side plates A connected together by an intermediate portion which is formed with two bends B, B<SP>1</SP>, each of which constitutes a sector of a circle, one sector B overlapping the sector B<SP>1</SP> of an adjoining bucket. Each bucket is secured between a pair of endless chains by bolts D which engage in drilled bosses C on the plates A and pass through tubular link pins E of the chains supporting rollers F running along rails G secured to the conveyer casing H. Stops J on the buckets engage the underside of the chain links to keep the buckets and chain in their correct relative positions. The plates A extend upwardly beyond the intermediate portion of the buckets to facilitate loading and to prevent spilling, and they are cranked as shown at A<SP>2</SP> so that the overlapping portions fit one within the other. A packing piece K is interposed between the overlapping sectors B, B<SP>1</SP> for silencing purposes and also for wiping the part of the sectors B<SP>1</SP> which become exposed when the buckets are passing round a bend. When conveying material which sticks to the buckets, each bucket may be provided with a wiper blade L, Fig. 6, secured by arms M to the bolts D. When the bucket reaches the unloading point wheels N secured to the bolts engage a ramp (not shown), whereby they are rotated and swing the blade so as to remove material adhering to the interior of the bucket.
