[Class 80 (i)] (Also in Group XXVIII] In a variable displacement pump one or more pairs of pistons or diaphragms are driven by cams, cranks, or eccentrics carried by oppositely handed helical gear-wheels. The latter are axially fixed and are rotated by helical gears on a driving shaft which may be adjusted in an axial direction to vary the relative angular position of the crank-carrying gears and hence the pump displacement.
