[Class 35] [Also in Group XXXVI] Flat coils of strip conductor spirally wound, e.g. for measuring instruments, are formed by wrapping sheets of conductor 31 and insulating material 32 around a metal former 28 which is then replaced by an insulating block of the same size and shape and the assembly is then placed in a mould and insulation is pressed about the conductors to form a block, as shown in Fig. 6, which is then sliced to give coils of the desired thickness. The moulded insulation also serves as coil supports. The sheet conductor 31 may be fixed to a bar 30 subsequently serving for the support of terminals.
