Abstract

567,264. Protective cut-out arrangements. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and DIXON, C. J. E. May 24, 1943, No. 8208. [Class 38 (v)] A neutral-point earthing resistor comprises a plurality of parallel-connected liquid resistance sections, one or more of which are permanently connected, whereas the others are disconnected by a circuit-breaker a predetermined time after a fault has occurred, so as to increase the resistance. The resistor may be constructed as in Fig. 2 of Specification 556,611, [Group XXXVI], and have more than two sets of two insulating bushings, all the terminal electrodes being earth-connected, whereas the intermediate electrodes are connected, one permanently and the others through a breaker, to the neutral point. Since in this form all the circulating liquid is available for cooling, the resistancecolumn that is left connected is not damaged by over-heating.
