Abstract
563,194. Protective cut-out arrangements. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and MORTLOCK, J. R. Jan. 27, 1943, No. 1363. [Class 38 (v)] In an earth-leakage protective system for switchgear, the cable-entry chambers 4 are lightly insulated from the remainder of the structure (comprising circuit-breakers 3 and bus-bar chambers 2), and the pedestals or frameworks 1 and cable-entry chambers 4 are bonded together by separate connections 5, 7, respectively, which are taken. to a common earth. The connections include current transformers 8 ... 10, of which 8 feeds the operating windings 13, 15, and 9, 10 the reference windings 16, 14, respectively, of directional relays, having series-connected trip contacts which are only closed when leakage current flows from conductor 5 both to earth and into connection 7, as shown by the arrows. The arrangement is immune from operation by cable-faults.
