Abstract

516,324. Fusible cut-outs. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., BRAZIER, L. G., and METCALF, A. W. July 15, 1938, No. 21002. [Class 38 (i)] Two groups of fusible elements are arranged in parallel, one group having high rupturing capacity and the other possesing discrimination, that is, the capability of rupturing under short circuit to forestall a fuse in series with higher rating. A barrel 1 has a longitudinally recessed bore containing glass tubes 4 two of which contain a silver wire 6 having a waist 7 and globule 8 and the other two enclose an element composed of bowed-wires 9 connected together at their ends and in the middle by globules 11, 10. All the elements are brought out to engage the terminal cap 2 and are connected together by solder 12. Specifications 499,999, and 501,684, are referred to.
