566,937. Filling ampoules &c. AUTOPACK (LONDON), Ltd., (formerly COLBY ENGINEERING CO., Ltd.), and LEE, G. A. July 15, 1943, Nos. 11552 and 21232. [Classes 94 (i) and 125 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A machine for charging receptacles with liquid, granular, powdered or other solid substances and especially for charging ampoules with liquid drugs comprises a horizontal support a and lateral supports c for the ampoules &c. b corrugated so as to engage the ampoules &c. which are caused to travel intermittently along the track bars c until they reach the discharge end by means of a pair of recessed bars i which advance and lift ampoules out of the corrugations of supports c and carry them along support a to other pairs of recesses in supports c whereafter bars i are retracted, this movement of bars i being effected by the engagement therewith of pins p mounted on discs o rotated from a driven shaft k by connections n, m. The ampoules &c. are filled through a reciprocable nozzle z from a pump actuated in synchronism with the rest of the mechanism, the pump being actuated from a cam 15 through a reciprocating arm 27 and the nozzle from a cam 16 through the sequence 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 5. A spring- controlled pad 31 acts to stop the mechanism if there is no ampoule &c. in front of the filling nozzle. The mouths of the ampoules are sealed by a gas flame, the ampoule being meanwhile rotated.
