Bottles, washing.-Articles such as bottles are transferred from one machine to another, say from a rinsing conveyer 2 to a filling machine 6 by means of a rotary table 14 provided with pivoted bottle supports adapted to swing in an horizontal plane The table is driven synchronously with the filling machine by forming the base plates 14, 8 as intermeshing spur gears, and is furnished with bottle supports 16 pivoted at 15 and cut away at 17 to engage circular supports 10 on the filling machine. The bottles are received from the @@nveyer at 4, being turned from an inverted to an almost upright position by a cam rail 3<a> and guided into place on the support 16 by fixed plates 23, 23<a>. As the table rotates, each support 16 in turn engages and is deflected by a support 10, but the bottle is prevented from moving inwardly with its support 16 by a stationary abutment 18 and thus is transferred to the support 10. The supports 16 are restored to their outer or receiving position by a stationary cam 21, or they may be controlled in both their outward and inward movements by cam mechanism. The filled bottles may be delivered to a receiving table 24 by the interposition of a guide plate 25, the table being toothed to gear with the filling machine base plate 8.
