Abstract

566,932. Hand trucks. FRANCIS & BARNETT, Ltd., and FRANCIS, G. I. July 3, 1943, No. 10819. [Class 108 (i)] In two - wheeled hand-trucks for lifting loads from the ground and transporting them, and of the kind comprising a load-carrying subframe 5 pivoted to a main frame 2, which is mounted on wheels 3 and provided with a handle 4, the construction is such that on depressing the handle from the initial load-lifting position shown in Fig. 1 into the position of Fig. 4, the wheels are moved forward of the pivotal point 9 between the main and sub-frames and the load is tilted forwardly with a transverse stop 12 of the main frame abutting against the sub-frame 5 engaging the load. Further depression of the handle raises the load for wheeling it away. The main frame 2 comprises forks receiving the wheels at their lower ends and carrying a cross-bar 9 for pivoting the sub-frame 5 carrying side members 6 with load-engaging arms 13 ; stops 11 carried by the forks together with torsion springs control the movements of the sub-frame in the main frame.
