Abstract

566,548. Furnace roofs. DELAWARE ENGINEERING CORPORATION. Aug. 10, 1943, No. 12912. Convention date, Aug. 3, 1942. [Class 51 (ii)] A furnace roof 4 is contained at its periphery within a ring 5 comprising a vertical web 6 and horizontal flanges 7, 8 with a skewback plate 9 welded to the flange 8 at a point 11 intermediate of its inner edge and the web 6 and also to the web. The annular chamber 12 formed between the ring and skewback plate is provided with means for the circulation of fluid. The refractory roof is formed of concentric rows of blocks, the blocks 14 in the outer row engaging the skewback and being recessed at 16 to receive the inner part of the flange 8.
