566,458. Two-stroke engines. COSTA, H. DA, and PLESSEY CO., Ltd. Aug. 18, 1943, No. 13420. [Class 7 (ii)] A two-stroke internal-combustion engine has inlet ports 1 arranged, prefer. ably in pairs, at diametric. ally opposite positions in the cylinder 3, the ports being inclined downwardly as shown so that air or combustible mixture is directed onto the piston head whence the stream passes upwardly onto the cylinder head and then downwardly over the cylinder walls. The exhausi ports 2, also arranged in opposed pairs, are uncovered before the inlet ports or descent of the piston. The piston may be flat-topped (as shown) or concave.
