Abstract

566,318. Lawn-mowers. RAMSAY, F. R. F. June 19, 1943, No. 9929. [Class 6 (ii)] One or more loosely pivoted cutters 10 are carried bv a disc 8 rotating about a vertical axis and driven by an electric motor 7. Centrifugal force may cause the cutter to project beyond the disc, or it may be biassed outwardly by springs. In this case, the cutter angle is independent of the speed of rotation. The cutter is bent downwardly from the plane of the disc keeping the latter clear of a baseplate 13 over which the cuttings are projected into a box 12 guided by a slotted deflector 14, 15. The height of working may be varied by choice of any of a vertical series of axle-holes for the wheel 2, provided in the side framing. At the front, the frame is fitted. with downwardly projecting guard prongs 4. A cover may be provided for the box, and its removal may operate a switch to open the motor circuit and a brake to stop or stay the disc.
