Abstract
565,562. Valves. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-. (Grove, M. H., and Annin, D.H.). June 8, 1942, No. 7811. [Class 135] Pressure regulating apparatus comprises a diaphragm 49, acted on oppositely by a spring 64 and the fluid pressure in the chamber 62. Movement of the diaphragm to the left causes an abutment 87 to unseat a ball valve 76 through pins 86, 84 carried by a piston 83, so that fluid from the chamber 62 passes through a passage 93 and a groove 92 in the piston 83 and escapes to the atmosphere through the shell 59, bearing 69 and opening 68. When the diaphragm is moved to the right by the spring 64, a member 78 unseats a ball valve 98, and pressure fluid from an inlet 46 passes to the chamber 62 through a passage 102 and groove 107 in a piston 104. A cap 13 may be turned to move a follower 66 to vary the compression of the spring 64, and the position of the abutment 87 may be adjusted to vary the margin between the pressures at which the valves 76, 98 are unseated.
