Abstract

564,760. Bolts. PHILPLUG PRODUCTS, Ltd., and TAYLOR, C. H. June 25, 1943, No. 10321. [Class 89 (i)] [Also in Group V] A plug for use in securing articles to concrete bases comprises a hardened tubular member 10 formed from a plastic mass and bound externally with wire &c. 6, the ends 6a of which form projections to anchor the plug in the surrounding concrete. The hole 10a is formed by introducing a core of similar shape to the spike or screw to be used, but of smaller dimensions. The mould is a modified form of that described in Specification 540,627, and comprises three segments 3, two of them being recessed at 7 at the joint to pass the ends 6a. A shallow helical recess 5 is provided to receive the inserted wire helix and the radius of curvature of the recess is greater than that of the wire. The jacket 4 enclosing the segments has a groove 4a, to receive the projecting ends 6a which are bent down as shown in Fig. 2 and in full lines in Fig. 4. In use, the ends are bent to the shape shown in dotted lines. The mould has perforated end closures 8, 9.
