Abstract
564,422. Coated fabrics; compound fabrics. IOCO RUBBER & WATERPROOFING CO., Ltd., RYAN, A., and CAMERON, G. March 1, 1943, No. 3366. [Class 140] Waterproof fabrics are made by applying to a fabric or providing between two fabrics a layer of a composition comprising gelled rape oil and white factice, and hot-curing. A fabric is given one coat of a composition containing gelled rape oil, white factice, zinc oxide and tetra-ethyl-thiuram-disulphide, and three coats of a similar composition containing in addition stearine pitch and whiting, each mixture being worked into spreading consistency with naphtha. To produce a compound fabric, two coated fabrics are united between rollers by means of an adhesive composition comprising gelled rape oil, dark factice, stearine pitch, asphaltic bitumen, china clay, vegetable black, zinc oxide, sulphur, zinc isopropyl xanthate, stearic acid, and naphtha, two layers of which are applied to each coated fabric. The coated or compound fabric is heated for 1¢ hours at 240‹ C. to vulcanize the composition.
