Abstract

1490183 Bitumen-coated webs TARMAC BITUMEN PRODUCTS Ltd 3 Oct 1974 [3 July 1973] 31588/73 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Continuous flexible webs are coated with a bituminous composition comprising a mixture including the following constituents digested at elevated temperature and mixed to produce a relatively homogeneous product: a) an oxidised bitumen having a softening point of 80-130‹C and a needle penetration value of 10-30; b) one or more straight run bitumens having singly or jointly a needle penetration value of 60-500; and c) rubber crumb in an amount up to 33% of the total weight of the bitumen content of the mixture; the composition having a softening point of 80-120‹C and a penetration value of 30-120. Specified substrates are made of rag, paper, asbestos fibre, hessian, glass fibre, polyester or nylon. The finished products may be used as roofing felt, flashing, damp course membrane or waterproof layer.
