[Class 64 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a steam-air heat-power plant, the temperature of the gases heating the air heater 12 is maintained at approximately the full plant. load value, when the load on the steam plant, with boiler 1 and turbine 6, falls. For this purpose, hot gases or cooling air may be supplied to the air heater. Steam from the boiler 1 passes through a superheater 4 to the turbine 6, driving a machine 9, and is led through a conveyer 7 to a feed pump 8 and pre-heater 10<1>. Air from the heater 12 drives a turbine 13, which drives an air compressor 14 and an external machine 15, and the exhaust air passes through a pre-heater 10<2>, for heating the feedwater for the boiler, and flows to a grate 3. At partial load for the steam plant, the temperature in front of the pre-heater 12 is maintained constant, by passing gases from the grate 3, past a chamber 17, at reduced load for the steam plant, some exhaust air from the turbine 13, may be passed through a pipe 16a for outside use. Part of the air may pass through a pipe 18, to the air heater 12 to mix with, and cool the gases from the furnace. The air heater 12 may be designed for a partial load of the steam plant.
